WIDEODERMATOSKOPIA

EODERMATOSCOPY

A NOVELTY IN OUR GABINET!

Videodermatoscopy is a non-invasive method of diagnosis used, among others, to early diagnose malignant melanoma.

This is a non-invasive method of diagnosis (without a surgery) used to diagnose the early stadium of cancer.
It distinguishes pigment from non-pigment changes, which early diagnosis helps to detect the malignant transformation.

WHAT IS THE EXAMINATION ABOUT ?

The aim is to distinct the examined fragment of skin on the screen of a computer and save the picture in an electronic format. It has particular importance for people who has got a lot of pigment changes. Going to a check-up once a year, they have a chance to compare the appearance of every mark at the time of the test to its appearance in the past. If the mark changes or grows, the doctor makes a decision to cut it out.

The examination lasts about a few minutes and is totally painless and non-invasive. A doctor applies a camera to the given place later sends the picture to a computer. Then, the examination and analysis takes place. Before the examination, the doctor should be told about how long the mark has been growing and how fast, the colour it had at the beginning (red or brown), independent achiness or during oppression. The result is given in a form of a description.

WHY IS IT WORTH TO DO THE TEST ?

Videodermatoscopy gives a chance to an early detection of small, developing melanoma. There always can appear changes on the skin which do not fulfil all the criteria of melanoma, however, some features characteristic for this disease cause anxiety. Such marks are preventively removed. The surgery can be done in our office.
